Joy, that's an awesome prayer.  Very sweet.  You must have a very close relationship with God.  How long have you been a Christian?

I didn't write that particular prayer.
When did I become a Christian?  I asked Jesus into my heart three times.  The first time I was nine.  It was at a family friend's Church.

What a wonderful testimony, Joy.  I always admire people who have accepted Christ at a young age and have lived their lives for God.

In case I haven't said so already, welcome to the forum.  I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

I invited Jesus into my heart, but that's as far as it went first and second time.  Third time lucky as they say.  Parable of the Sower describes my experience.

It's wonderful that you persevered until you achieved a relationship with God.  It's a testimony to your faithfulness.  God obviously wanted you saved or you wouldn't have kept feeling his tug.

Interesting, Ann.  So how does prayer allow God to change a person if he isn't in control?

Prayer is our communication with God.  It changes everything about everything.  As in any relationship, it takes communication.  When communication is there any relationship will flourish.  The better the communication the better the relationship.

I believe that our prayers do several things.

First it causes us to stop and seek God.

Second it allows us to focus on God's view of the situation.

Thirdly it shows us that WE are not in control.

Fourth, it builds our faith.

That is how it has worked for me.
