Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Baron Acton (1834–1902).
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy Word above all thy name.

Psalm 138:2 (KJV)

The only power that doesn't corrupt is the power that's found in the Holy Spirit.  He can't be corrupted and therefore his power can't be corrupted.

Having said that, I totally agree with you and that statement from Baron Acton.  It's human nature to want to control.  That's why we need to be self controlled and submitted to the headship of God every moment of every day.

I will only walk in the Authority (power of Attorney) that Christ has given me by the Holy Spirit. If He sees fit to promote me, that's fine with me. If He sees fit to demote me, that's fine with me, too.
All I want to hear when I stand face to face with my Lord is: "Well done, my good and faithful servant, enter into the joys of your rewards."  :12
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy Word above all thy name.

ooh, power and corruption.  That's a pretty deep subject.  If more people would quit worrying about having power over others we'd all get along a lot better, I think.
