Helping other get started
« on: November 24, 2009, 08:10:33 AM »
Here’s a site where you can make small, and I mean very small, business loans to the less fortunate around the world.  These are people who aren’t feeling sorry for themselves.  Instead they’re out there starting businesses with the help from others.  It’s a place a lot of my internet marketing buddies put their profits...encouraging other entrepreneurs to start and succeed.

Thanks, Tim.

I took the plunge and loaned, hope it doesn't just turn into a 'donation' but even if it does, it is a worth cause..
Have you made any money at all with this?

No, I've never made any money on Kiva.  It's not really designed for that.  It's called a loan but when I give it's giving, not a loan.

I worded that incorrectly, what I meant was have you ever loaned and gotten the loan back.  I think we are of the same spirit here though. I felt led to give and did it cheerfully whether it comes back or not.

Hmmmmm....I just tried to log into Kiva and got the message "no such user". I have my Paypal receipt, though.

So far I've never been given any money back.  Not sure why but it was a gift anyway so I don't worry about it.

I have since done some due diligence and find Kiva is for real.  I too, did it as more of a donation than a loan, and if it does come back, I will re-loan it again.  It is a blessing to help those who are in need and especially those who are not just looking for a handout.

Tim,  Do you know if this organization has helped Hatti start businesses?  That would be especially helpful post earthquake if people there could get set up in businesses.

Right now, I know the pressing issue there is basic necessities of food and water.

They have made it easy to donate as low as $10 just by dialing 90999 on your cell phone.

If we have 330 million people in America if we all just donated $1 that would be $330 Million for Hatti.  :)
