What are the pressing issues today?
« on: June 13, 2009, 04:21:39 PM »
You might think we would all have the same answer for this question or at least in the same ballpark.

Unfortunately it apprears we have an array of different concerns today.

What's your biggest concern?

I think that most of the people who call themselves Christians have no clue what Christianity is all about...because they've never been taught the bible and they don't have any desire to learn the truth.  Rather they've been brainwashed via various sources to put themselves first, look out for number one, and to invent their own belief system.

(Proverbs 21:2 NIV)  All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.

I think true believers will be drawn closer to their Lord and Savior when times get rough.  What is sad is those who don't know Jesus.  They have no one to turn to when times get rough.

At work I see a lot of frustration in people.  They are fretful and very worried.  It is so sad to see that they don't have Jesus to rely on.

No matter what is going on, things are FANTASTIC because we have Jesus and it just doesn't get any better than that!

Thank you Jesus!

In the WORLD:

Health care / for it or against it
The economy
The unemployment rate

For the CHRISTIAN:
God is my healer, and provider.  He will provide ALL that I need.
God's economy is about giving.  We have to give to receive.
God has work for us.  If we are unemployed we are to work at getting a job BUT NEVER quit working for the Lord.

When I see things go bad I say, BUT JESUS has the answer!
When i see people frustrated, I say, God is still on the throne in heaven.  We are NOT alone.
When I see people fretful about how times are changing and about 'saving America', I just remember Jesus is coming back for Christians, not Americans.  There are Christians all over the world.  When he comes I want there to be no doubt that I am one of his.  I want to always keep my focus on God and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  This enables me to be a better Christian and a citizen of whatever country I reside.

Everyone has varying issues in their walk in life as well as their walk with the Lord.  I'm sure there are some generic answers that will fit most people but each of us has to deal with their own problems.  I know that inconsistency is a problem I have.  It's a pretty pressing issue.  I try to stick to a schedule and no matter what I do I just can't seem to get the job done.

That's not as pressing as the economy or health care but since I don't have big financial problems and I'm healthy it's more of an issue to me than the other two put together.

Pressing issues are different for all of us.

I have had to overcome procrastination over the years.  I have grown some in that area, mostly due to pressing needs, things I needed to acomplish.   What I have found that works for me is to start working on doing one thing consistently.  Then I pick a day and time to do that one thing and just focus on getting that one thing acomplished.  When I have done that I find it is easier than trying to plan a whole day or week filled with all the things I have not acomplished due to procrastination. I have found that working on one thing at a time works best for me.

I have also noticed that I have to do something about 21 days (3 weeks) before it becomes easy.  That is where the real work comes in.  I tend to want to give up during that 3 weeks period but I try to press on.  If I do give up I start again and 'reboot' so-to-speak.  Sometimes my needs and necessities change and that adds more training to my process.
