Dreams & Visions
« on: May 11, 2009, 02:06:06 PM »
I'm responding to something Joy said on another thread, but I got off topic so I'm starting this topic up:

Quote
Another scripture I like to remember often is, resist the devil and he will run from you.  That one makes me chuckle; just the thought of the devil running away from me.

James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

What a great idea! It never occurred to me to envision something like that when dealing with temptation.

It reminds me of a dream (or vision) I had many years ago. I had been struggling with a serious drug addiction.
The enemy came to me in a dream and got me high. It was very real and powerful. I was unable to resist or wake myself up. When suddenly I cried out to the Lord.
It may sound a bit corny, but an army of angels came thundering down over a hill top, on horseback, many carrying banners, huge spears or swords. Jesus Himself was leading them. I knew it was Him because He was almost to bright to look at. The dream had been very dark and oppressive, but the light from the Lord made the darkness flee immediately. The devil and his demons tucked tail and ran, screaming for their lives like cowards.

When I woke up there was a very strong presence of the Lord in the room, almost a glow. I remember thanking Him for
my deliverence and I thought He said, 'I will always come when you call me like that.'
After spending sometime talking to Him and enjoying His presence, I enjoyed a very deep and peaceful sleep. I had not thought of this in sometime, but it was a very real and powerful experience. Your post reminded me of it.

The enemy never tried to attack me in that manner again!

(until now, I shared this with only a few people, but I am curious to know if others have had any similar experiences?)

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. -- Joel ch.2 v. 28

Wow.  I felt the presence of the Lord just reading your post!

I had an experience like this once but in a different way.  I was in a dream battling Satan and his demons.  It was a huge battle field with many other people also doing battle.  I was being overwhelmed.  The enemy was closing in and it became obvious that I would soon fall in battle.  It suddenly occurred to me that I was doing all the fighting on my own and I wasn't trusting God to do the fighting.  I stopped everything and began screaming at the enemy in tongues.  They flew backwards as if a huge explosion had occurred.  I woke up, set bolt upright in bed and was still speaking in tongues so loudly that I woke my wife up.

I've no idea what the battle was over but it seems that the Holy Spirit was looking out for me even in my dreams.

WOW! Thanks for sharing that Bro; I don't want to sound like a teenager, but that is way Cool! That's much like my experience without the tongues. Although I really don't remember what I uttered, the Lord did, because He said if I called on Him in that manner He would always answer.

I don't know if I ever told you about it or not, but one night coming home from Liberty Hill after church, somebody side swiped me so hard they knocked me into the guard rail really hard. I bounced off and hit them before they sped off. I've never had anything like this happen before or since, but when I pulled over, there wasn't a scratch on my van! I'm not a big believer in God doing miracles as much today as when Jesus walked the earth, but that was real!
I never forgot that, even though I don't understand it fully. It's as if He had an angel between me and the guard-rail.
I know it's easy to scoff at such occurences, but this actually happened!

It's so powerful when the Lord reveals Himself to us this way.
I've had other experiences with the Lord that are only for us, not even my wife; but thanks so much for sharing that. I would really like to hear from others as well. GOD IS AWESOME!

Once in a while I feel like I need to go look in the mirror, like He's gonna do a Moses 'tan' on the side of my face!
Remember when we were going to Liberty Hill? I was running the sound and Richard Talbotts wife Dianne, was playing the piano, she said after the service she paused briefly in shock during a hymn because I had a 'glow' around my face. That was wild. I wasn't aware of anything but the worship & the presence of the Lord. Everyone was singing in the Spirit and it was almost like being in heaven! She said it looked like 'Moses in The Ten Commandments! Is that crazy or what!

I love the Lord, but to be completely honest I really don't feel worthy of His goodness sometimes. He treats us so much better than we treat each other. Even when He is tough on us, it's always because He loves us!

Tim, It seems like the dream was a real battle happening right then.

I can't say I have had a dream like that but I have had God place someone on my heart and I began to interceed for him and in one case when the burden was intense, the very next day the individual was suicidal, had major difficulties, and the police were called.  But the outcome was very positive and it became evident that God had walked him through it.

God is so awesome!

Tony, I love your comment about a Moses Tan.  :)

Enjoyed seeing you all during my trip to Indiana. by way of Cincinnati.  It is so nice to know that I have brothers and sisters all over the country.

God is so good.

Ro, You are a Godly Sister in the Lord, and I'm so glad I met you! Please tell your husband and children we shall always remember them in prayer! Now that I've met you, I have a face to attach to my prayers!

PS: You still should have tried the tenderloin! Right, Tim?!? (I'm thinking about having a hog roast soon, LOL)

Thank you for listening to the Lord's voice and interceding. His 'Sheep' know His voice.

Dear Tony, thankyou for sharing this testimony. At some point I would like to post a response.

My son, open your ears to what I say and pay very close attention to the words I speak to you.  Hold My words deep in your heart and cling to every word wholeheartedly, for My word is life.  I guard you, care for you and protect you.  When you are tired, go and rest on your bed, close your eyes and I will give you My peace and comfort.  I fill you with the gift of faith now.  So be encouraged and know I have all things in hand.  I sit on My throne and no one has usurped Me.  Remember I am your Lord and no one can harm you when I am watching over you.

My son, do not lose sight of these things. Use priceless wisdom and foresight. Proverbs 3:21. Do not lose sight of these things. Keep them deep within your heart.  Proverbs 4:21. My son, pay attention to my words. Treasure my commands that are within you. Keep my commandments and live, And my teaching as the apple of your eye. Proverbs 7:1-2. He found his people in a desert land, in a barren place where animals howl. He guarded them, took care of them, and protected them because they were helpless.  Deuteronomy 32:10. He taught me also, and said to me, Let your heart retain my words. Proverbs 4:4a. Don't think these words are idle talk. They are your life! By these words you will be able to live for a long time in the land that you are going to take possession of when you cross the Jordan River. Deuteronomy 32:47. So he made you suffer from hunger and then fed you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had seen before. He did this to teach you that a person cannot live on bread alone but on every word that the LORD speaks. Deuteronomy 8:3. Jesus answered, "Scripture says, 'A person cannot live on bread alone but on every word that God speaks.'" Matthew 4:4. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled. Isaiah 5:15. So he humbled them with hard work. They fell down, but no one was there to help them. Psalm 107:12. He will rescue the needy person who cries for help and the oppressed person who has no one's help. Psalm 72:12.
