An autumn evening with the Creator of the universe:

Last night I had an opportunity to spend a little time alone. I went out  back to relax and enjoy the evening. As I looked out over the gently rolling hills of green grass my gaze wandered upward to the trees on the hills and beyond into the woods. The fall leaves were almost at their peak of brilliant color. The autumn blaze maple on the hill almost looked on fire as it caught the evening sunlight slowly setting in the western sky.

A red-tailed hawk swooped down and his shadow was enormous on the hill. He perched high above the woods in the tallest tree looking for an evening meal. I was suddenly awed by the beauty and scope of God’s creation. The birds and all of nature seemed to be singing God’s praises. It occurred to me the wonder of God's creation was second only to the wonder of God Himself.

The golden sunlight seemed to linger a bit longer this evening as if to join in. There was a slight chill in the air which I’ve come to enjoy as I’ve learned to appreciate the changing seasons and the variety in nature God seems to enjoy…and His presence filled the evening...

As the setting sun began to melt into the woods a gentle breeze sprang up and the leaves began to slowly dance in perfect harmony. A large flock of Canadian geese flew over not far above the tree tops, going home for the evening to the large lake past the woods…and I thanked Him...

I thanked Him for not leaving the world desolate after sin brought a curse upon it several thousand years ago in that garden on the other side of the world. I began to think about how beautiful it must have been, but  also that it would be nothing in comparison to heaven. I thanked  Him for the sacrifice He made to reconcile us to Him...

I thanked Him for the cross...  the cross... He bore for us.

As the light faded ever so slowly the sounds of night came forth. The crickets and other night creatures began to bring forth praise to their Creator. The stars began to become more visible and I praised Him as I pondered on scripture that began to come to mind...

Job 9: He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea. He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south...

Is. 40: Who has held the waters in the hollow of His hand, or with the breadth of His hand marked off the heavens? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and it’s people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in…

Who is like unto Him? To whom will you compare him?… Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name… Do you not know?  Have you not heard? …THE LORD IS THE EVERLASTING GOD...the Creator of the ends of the earth…

And as His presence permeated the evening, my heart welled within me and tears filled my eyes...  because He spent an evening with unworthy me...

Praise His Holy Name!

Shy?  Hummmm I think he can't use that excuse after posting on this forum, and on Twitter pages...that makes your comments pretty public. 

So, Tony, are you getting your article ready for the next published issue of BB?

Tony,  The more you post here the more clearly you show your skills and your heart for writing.  Your writings remind me of Tim's writings.  He must be rubbing off on you.  Maybe it is in the water in Indiana.  If so, please ship some to me here in Florida. 

All kidding aside you are an excellent writer because you write with heart, clarity and resoning.  That is hard to get all wrapped up into one bundle.

I have to admit I do enjoy writing although I have done very little. It has a very special appeal. It must be because of a quality we share with God, wanting to create something beautiful or useful. It takes me a long time to write things however, and I worry about writing correctly, punctuation, etc.

 It is a little difficult sharing intimate feelings though, or special moments with the Lord. I just know that we all have different seasons in our lives, and sometimes it seems the Lord isn't even there. I have gone thru a time like that recently, so this was especially meaningful to me.

I hope my writing can encourage someone or touch someone the way He did me. I still can't read it without getting a bit emotional.

I have been touched & encouraged by your writings, Tim's, Ann's, and others here, as well. Thank you all.

That is what is so powerful is to tell others what God has done for us.  No one can argue about that because it is our story. 

That is why sharing our testimony is so valuable because it is just the facts through our eyes. 

When the time is right in someone's life God will use it to show them how cool Jesus really is... it is always amazing how He does that. It is like he lifts the veil from their eyes and ta da ... there is Jesus.  How cool is that!
