CROCHET DOLL

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They shared everything. They talked about everything. They kept no secrets from each other . . . except that the little old woman had a shoe-box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe-box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000. He asked her about the contents.

"When we were to be married," she said, " my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was never to argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll."

The little old man was so moved he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.

"Darling," he said, "that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?"

"Oh," she said, "That's the money I made from selling the dolls."

:) Have a great day!

Hi Jackie,

You are a natural story teller.

I burst out with laughter,

btw, are you married?

I'm just curious.

I will share this with my wife tonight,

Hey Edward, I didn't write this wonderful story, I only copied and pasted it from an email :)  In answer to your question, am I married.  I was married from Jan 1981 - April 1984 and my husband ended our marriage in order to marry someone else.  I'd heard on the grapevine he was already married when he married me here in the UK; when he denied this, I chose to believe him before anyone else.  In his country having several wives isn't an issue; I hadn't really known that.  I was quite ignorant of life in these types of countries.

After suffering a marriage made in hell, I decided the single life was for me, and I remained single ever since.  From time to time I do witness marriages made in Heaven, and I think to myself how wonderful.  People tell me I can always have another go at marriage, and my answer is, what at my age?  Oh by the way, on this forum I said I was 48 on the 8th February; my son said on my birthday, "Mum, you're not 48 today, you're 49."  I did the sums on a bit of paper and he was right :)  Seems a bit of senility must be creeping in on my old age :)

I had to laugh, because I told loads of people I was going be 48 this birthday...hahaha.  Oh well, people always say you're as young as you feel, and that's what matters really.  I haven't had to dye my hair yet, cos I'm not grey, and I can't understand that as I know so many who are dying their hair because they're completely grey and they're even younger than me.

I said to a hairdresser recently "is it possible to wake up one morning and be completely grey?"  She was only young, and she didn't know the answer.  I still don't know the answer.
