Bruce Kelly originally began a Christian dance club at USF while attending college there in the 1980s. After he graduated college, the dance club continued for years. It has always been his desire to fulfill this need for the youth in the Tampa Bay area .
That desire is being fulfilled as a contemporary Christian dance club known as Kingdom Come. The club provides an exciting, high-energy environment to enjoy a variety of Christian entertainment for people of all ages in the Greater Tampa Bay area.
|
Kingdom Come endeavors to provide an exciting, high-energy, Christ-centered environment for the youth and young adults of the Tampa Bay area. They strive to encourage, exhort and uplift people with the Word of God as presented in the lyrics of contemporary Christian music and as expressed in other artistic forms.
|
They seek the cooperation and support of parents and youth pastors to help provide a safe and structured program and to encourage and mentor people in a personal relationship with Christ. The purpose is to offer praise to our God in a new, creative and exciting way. |
Kingdom Come is the cornerstone of a much larger Christian Arts Center program that will involve many forms of artistic expression. There will include choreographed dance, original music recording and production, music video, painting including graffiti and mixed media, digital media and live performance. The club provides the stage and backdrop for the rest of the program. |
The club is located in the Town-n-Country area of Northwest Tampa, Florida, the club is centered between the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater metropolitan areas. The club's 2400 square feet provides plenty of area for a variety of fun things to do. The fully lighted dance floor pulsates to a 5000 watt sound system playing the hottest sounds in the contemporary Christian music genre. |
The game areas include pool, air hockey, basketball, darts, Playstation and a variety of board games. A snack bar serves up non-alcoholic drinks, shakes and snacks for refreshment and sells glow-sticks, t-shirts and other items.
|
The chill-out room provides a place to relax and escape the music. Magazines and other materials are available to browse while relaxing. A bulletin board provides information regarding upcoming events in the area.
|
The music played at Kingdom Come falls into two categories. - The first is music that is written, produced and performed by people who have identified themselves as Christian whether or not the music has lyrics or not. This would include music commonly known as contemporary Christian music.
- The second category is music that while not necessarily written, produced or performed by people identifying themselves as Christian, contains lyrics that do give praise and honor to God or that is music with no lyrics that is used by musicians and DJ's to give praise and honor to God. Musical content is reviewed for appropriateness on a continual basis.
