Mosaic Law vs. Grace:
Old Covenant, New Covenant
By Rev. Dr. Roberta Gleason
Too many Bible believing Christian Churches still teach the Ten Commandments mixed in with the death and resurrection our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
The Ten Commandments were part of the Mosaic Law. The problem with that is if you mix the Law with grace, you are denying of the power of the blood of Christ. If you try to keep the Ten Commandments in your own strength and determination, then you are robbing the Holy Spirit of His work in you. By keeping the Ten Commandments in your own strength, that is self righteousness. And God says that all our self righteousness is like "filthy rags" in His sight. "Filthy rags" are menstrual clothes with polluted blood in them.
(Isaiah 64:6 KJV) But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Hebrew = soiled menstrual cloths, polluted blood.
The Mosaic Law was perverted by the scribes.
(Jeremiah 8:8 NIV) "'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?
When Jesus "broke" the Sabbath Law of the Scribes and the Pharisees in the New Covenant, He was not breaking the Law given by God, he was breaking the Jewish traditions of the Law that the Pharisees and Scribes had added to God's law. In doing so, they brought a curse on themselves.
(Deuteronomy 4:1-2 KJV) Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. {2} Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
If the Old Covenant (The Law) worked, we would not need a New Covenant. (Grace).
(Acts 13:38-39 NIV) "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. {39} Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.
(Hebrews 12:24 KJV) And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
(2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV) Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
(Galatians 2:17-21 KJV) But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. {18} For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. {19} For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. {20} I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. {21} I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
(Matthew 5:17 KJV) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
(Galatians 5:14 KJV) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
The conclusion of the matter is that the Christ in us, by the Holy Spirit, more than fulfills the Old Covenants when the fruit of the Holy Spirit has blossomed in Christ's own blood bought people.
