Reaching Out
By Ro Lashua
Many of know that I am no longer the publisher of Believers Bay. God has me off doing other endeavors and it is exciting. My new role at Believers Bay is quite a new experience, that of Strategic Planning Coordinator, columnist, and freelance writer. I am not used to publisher deadlines and me personally having to keep them. For the first seven years of the life of this e-zine, I was the publisher and while we did publish monthly and we strove to publish each issue on the first of the month, it was never a sure thing as to the exact date that it would go live online.
All that has changed with the new publisher, Tim Russ. He is a good publisher with a plethora of skills to publish this ezine and do it well.
So, now I have to be sure I do not miss the deadline each month to get my column published. I promise I will get the hang of this deadline thing. I am implementing self-imposed deadlines so I can adjust.
You might be saying, what does this have to do with the theme this month? Well, the theme is “Christmas”. I like to focus on what that means to most people, especially those reading this ezine. I would like to focus on Jesus, who came as a baby, grew up as a child, and became a man, and died on that cross for each of us.
I am very glad that God the Father and Jesus Christ our Savior do not have trouble with deadlines. They have perfect timing. They are always on time and they are never late. Late denotes error. We may feel like they are late but they are not actually late for the purposes they have in mind.
When Jesus came to this earth He was a baby in Mary’s womb. He came right on time. He was born just a few months after John the Baptist. This was all planned and it was for a reason. John was the voice crying out in the wilderness to pave the way for Jesus. God had a deadline. He wanted Jesus to come and live the sinless life so we could all have salvation. That is the foundation for the 6,000 years the Father has given mankind to try and make their way work.
We are fast coming to the end of the 6,000 years and Jesus will come very soon. Jesus will come and usher in the Kingdom of God, also called the millennium for 1,000 years. God will give mankind the peace they have been striving for all these years. Ironically God will have to make mankind be happy. The bible says there will be countries that will have no rain for a while because they will not obey. That is another story for another month.
Many know that Jesus was not actually born on December 25 but realize that He may very well have been conceived on that day. His birth was actually in the Fall Season. Joseph and Mary were going to Bethlehem for a census in the Fall Season of the year. The sheep were still in the field, therefore it was not yet winter. The stable was plenty warm enough for them at that time of the year.
This time of the year let’s all remember that God does not miss deadlines. He sent His Son right on time and He is never late to provide for us. He may seem late to us, for our purposes but He is not late for His purposes.
As I work on meeting submission deadlines, I will be becoming more like God. How cool is that.
Talk to you next month, Lord willing.
