Believer's Bay

Sharing the Love of God with Common Sense

My God, The Sandpiper And I

By Kevin Molloy

Sitting on the beach, bathed in moonlight,
Was a little sandpiper seeking food and water.
With waves rushing in, the sandpiper retreating,
With waves receding, sandpiper advancing a natural dance.
"O little sandpiper stay and drink," I would say,
And just then, the Father, made me stop and think
About, my God, the sandpiper and I.

"So afraid," I thought I heard Him say, "So afraid."
"I would bless the 'little sandpiper' if he would only let me."
"To refresh him and give blessing, I long to try to do,
Bringing comfort that he sorely needs and wants to have."
All the sandpiper sees is the rushing wave, and his spirit quickens,
Seeking advantage gaining food and drink to survive, survive
This vision of my God, the sandpiper and I.

"My love reaches to all my children, to the young and old alike,"
"Stretching, rushing, filling all the hidden recesses of the heart."
"Encouraging, enlightening, striving to meet every need in their lives,"
"Make time for ME, seek Me, find Me, talk to Me," the Father implores,
Is His request, "Hear me when I speak, to open your minds to new things?"
The Father, full of grace, says from His heart with a sigh,
And this is the story of my God the sandpiper and I.
