Poet Laureate of the Arizona Supreme Court
by Brendalyn Crudup Martin Isaiah 55: 10-11 - For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.
Just like the rain accomplishes what it was sent to do, God will not allow his Word to return void. It will accomplish all that He sent it to do. Sometimes, we let doubt and fear stop us from fulfilling our destiny as men and women of God.
When we have God in our hearts, we also accomplish what He sends us to do.
We should not worry about what another person is called to do. All of us have a calling on our lives and the Lord equips each of us with the tools necessary to answer that calling.
Romans 12:4-6 - For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us . . .
If you are called to sing, the Lord will bless you with the right voice, but you still need to work to perfect your tools. If you never practice singing, you have only yourself to blame if you sound like a screeched owl.
If you are gifted as a musician, you still need to practice on your instrument, or you may end up hitting only sour notes. If you are a gifted speaker, you still need to study the subject you are speaking on, so others will recognize that you know what you are talking about.
Just because you have a gift is no reason to let it go to waste by not working to maintain and perfect it. Scripture says we work to show ourselves approved. By using our gifts to glorify God, we show ourselves not only approved, but obedient to His will.
John 15:10 - If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love..
Life is a gift, which is why Jesus said that He came that we might have abundant life. Therefore, we should not waste our lives worrying about trivial physical things.
We need to live lift to the fullest through Christ Jesus. If God is not in our lives, we are already dead. We need to get right with God and we cannot do it by ourselves.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says: if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things become new.
We have to stop living the same old sinful lives if we want a true relationship with God. We cannot stand on His Word if we are filled with the world.
Psalm 11:5 says the Lord loveth the righteous, but the wicked and him that loveth violence, His soul hateth.
Sometimes things get a little hot and we feel like we are being consumed, but God tempers us with love until we reach just the right temperature and He see His image in us. Then we are like gold.
God’s Word is life and His Promise is true, but we must make the leap of faith and step out on His Word, accepting Him as our Savior, believing in our hears and confessing with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Then God will cleanse us, shape us, mold us, and use us to His glory. Then, we will truly have life and share in the “Promise of His Word.”
