Promises of God
by Ro Lashua God promises to never leave us or forsake us. He promises to provide for us.
Why then do we become fearful and worried about His support and provision?
Why do we not trust God?
Why do we so soon forget His promises?
First, it seems that we forget His promises because these are not real to us. Perhaps it is because we have not read the word often enough to make the promises real to us. Not just that we know of His promises, but that we know them and we believe them.
God does promise great things for us.
God is faithful.
So why do we not believe?
Could it be that we are being attacked with the spirit of unbelief or with the spirit of discouragement?
Unbelief and discouragement go hand in hand. These are tactics of Satan. Unbelief comes then discouragement. He cannot make us quit but he can try and discourage us so we voluntarily quit.
We do this when we get our eyes off of God’s promises and faithfulness.
John 3:16 says it all. For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God wants all mankind to choose everlasting life with Him. He wants everyone to accept Jesus so we can spend eternity with Him.
God’s promise of Salvation is generated by His awesome love for us. He loves all of us so much that He gave Jesus as our Savior. Without this promise we all have nothing to hope for beyond this short life.
Knowing what promises God has for us gives us a deeper understanding of the heart of God and how much He loves us.
The Bible says “my people perish due to lack of knowledge.” We can have victory when we know the promises of God and live like we know them.
We can live like we know these promises when they are in our hearts and minds because the Word is part of us. We can then live in faithwith confidence of the promises of God. .
The Word of God sustains us as we read and study the Bible. The Word then lives in us. It becomes a seed that is planted and grows within us to nourish us Spiritually. When we need the Word of God, He will bring it to our remembrance if we have put it there, in our minds through regular Bible study. .
Here are some key promises God offers us such as, He will never leave us, He will always provide a way of escape, He has the hairs on our head numbered, He knows what is happening to us, and He is in control.
We can be bold because we are children of the Most High God.
We can live in that kind of victory because we believe it. Belief is based on faith; faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
The more we study Scripture the more real the Word of God becomes to us. The more the promises of God become a reality in our lives.
Fear not little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom (Luke 12:32).
We are not to be under the spirit of bondage and fear but to have the Spirit of adoption, whereby we call God our Father (Romans 8:15). Do we know God as our Father?
What an awesome God we serve. He loves us so much he not only gives us salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, but he also provides for us through our Christian walk to sustain us.
Knowledge of the heart of God gives us confidence in our heritage and rights as His child. Then we can walk our Christian life without fear. We can experience the heart of God and exercise boldness in His promises that reside in our hearts and minds.
We serve a mighty God who loves us and wants us to get to know him through the words of the Bible.
