Instant Healing
And instantly the blind man could see! Then he followed Jesus down the road. -- Mark 10:52, New Living Translation
One of the aspects of Jesus' healing told in the New Testament is how immediately the people were healed. That's the mighty and complete power of God. When He does something, He does it all the way, right then.
Sure you may have watched the Biblical movies done by Hollywood in which the crippled man stumbles around a while, then ends up dancing and running around, but that's for the effect in the movie. The effect in real life is that God wants us to see His power demonstrated immediately and completely in us.
For instance, when a non-believer comes to accept Jesus, he or she can actually change in appearance -- faces light up with a glow that's not been there before, attitudes calm and become more positive and a peace and comfort becomes evident. I've seen this happen to people and it's amazing.
God isn't looking to impress an audience with His power, though, He's looking to change hearts and minds. The only thing that keeps us in a perpetual state of change and "becoming" is our own human limitations. We can't fathom the power of God working within us in leaps and bounds, so we either don't see the evidence of His power or we reject it in our ignorance.
God uses any thing, any where, any time to do His work. In the Old Testament, God "opened the mouth" of a donkey to speak to its rider. When we begin to say what God can and cannot or would and would not use to do His work, we only limit our depth of believing in and knowing God better.
Today, let's ask God to wash our eyes clean of the human-built barriers that tend to skew our spiritual vision and allow us to see the wonder He does every day. Then, just as the blind man followed Jesus down the road, follow God -- leaping like a healed cripple and singing like a former mute -- praising Him for His power and glory. For we see what God has done and know that He is worthy.
Acts 3:6-7
But Peter said, "We don't have any money for you! But I'll give you something else! I command you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk! "
7 Then Peter took the lame man by the hand and pulled him to his feet. And as he did, the man's feet and ankle-bones were healed and strengthened so that he came up with a leap, stood there a moment and began walking! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them. TLB
