Be All That You Can Be By Kevin Molloy The world has never seen what a man totally committed to God can do! These words spoken to D.L. Moody are what prompted that great evangelist to attempt great things for God…and look what he did for the Father through the Holy Spirit because of the work of Christ in His life! The God-Man Jesus Christ is the only exception to that wonderful statement of faith! We are now challenged to copy and surpass Mr. Moody and others such as Smith Wigglesworth, and George Mueller. There are many saints who have tried to surpass Christ Jesus, and because of His intercession they have succeeded. I enjoy stories of success and feel that they empower me to try harder, and work longer at the goals the Father has placed before me. What goals has the Father placed before you in your life? Most of the people in the local Church services I attend struggle with the idea of asking God for a revival. They plead with Jesus to start a revival right inside them. I have always been curious why did they stop? With every action I perform I have always asked God what direction I should take, or who I should talk to, or better yet, if I should be silent and dwell in His presence. He wants us to be time conscience about serving Him, and to be less conscience of wasting our time doing such nonsense as watching television. If we evaluated our time wisely we should be appalled at how we spend our time. I met someone recently who told me she had nop time to read her Bible. Yet, she reads the paper determinedly every morning. What does she gain from that activity? She gains the knowledge of what is on sale at the local grocery store this week while the Savior yearns for her to spend her precious time with Him. How can we say that we are on fire for God? When was the last time you cried before the Lord weeping for souls? When did you feel the presence of Jesus so strongly that words were too trivial to express any emotion? What is a nominal Christian? A nominal Christian is a Christian in name only and some would question if their sincerity is sufficient to gain access for the throne? A nominal Christian spends very little time developing his or her relationship with God; they only do what they have to do to get by and be a pew-sitter. We wonder why relationships are so hard to create and develop with other saints when the Author and Finisher of our faith must compete with McDonalds for our precious time. Wal-Mart is not our Savior and Lord, Saints. They make no pretense of being our religious leader. There is a place in our lives for these stores, yet we have to place them in proper order. My mother used to say that, “a place for everything and everything in its place.” Bless her heart she had no time to read the Bible everyday either, until the pastor came over one day and asked her about her soaps she watching. She changed her life with that conversation. She talked about Jesus when ever she had the chance, and the people she conversed with were powerful people. Momma chatted with governors, parole boards, wardens in her prison ministry. At the height of her ministry, she wrote over 1,000 letters a year to minister to inmates and others. Only at the end of her life did she have a computer, and she never really learned how to use them properly to help her ministry. All because a pastor confronted her about her watching television, and how much more she could do. Do not waste time doing things that have no eternal value. Do not make God take second place in your life. Follow this biblical injunction: Proverbs 3:9 9 Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase: Honor the Lord. Then we shall get a blessing which is: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. KJV If we want answers to our prayers why ask Jesus as a last resort? Why not go to Him in the first place when we have a problem that seems too insurmountable? I asked a saint today if she thought that she should pray for a revival and she said what most of the Christian community would say, yes and I said to her why did they lose it in the first place that they should ask for a revival now? Where did they lose their joy of salvation? Do we take salvation for granted? Do we have a set time in our lives that we spend seeking God upon our faces? No wonder our country is going to the pit. We live in a free country, and yet with all kinds of different people groups coming in now they bring in their different gods with them, or at the very least they bring a large amount of cultic tradition with them. One writer who constantly writes articles displaying a new age mentality consistently tries to write for Believersbay.com while I like her writing skill she has yet to answer me about the deity of Christ…so I consistently reject her writing. God is not in all her thoughts and Jesus is unnecessary. She never writes about sin and the Blood of Jesus and we have to sift through all the gallant prose about her human solutions to everyday problems. We believe that God can heal our problems if we allow Him to heal us. If we get out of the way and let the God of all flesh do His job. While we were raising our children I explained that certain jobs were large and heavy daddy-sized jobs. Some were mommy sized jobs, and then each child had there own sized jobs. We asked them to try hard to do their own jobs so they could finally do a daddy-sized job. They all have two kids each. Now they understand. Be all you can be dear saints…be all that you can be and let God do His job. He does everything well go to Him first. Copyrighted © 2007 Kevin Molloy. All rights reserved |
