FEEL THE POWER

Matthew 17: 1-2 “After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them up to a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.”

Very few of us are blessed to see God’s power that clearly. Most of us would doubt what we saw anyway, wouldn’t we?

We would doubt what was seen----like Thomas. In John 20: 24-25 “Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe it.”

He didn’t trust just his eyes. He needed more.

Most of us are like Thomas. That’s probably why God shows His power in other ways and not to our eyes. We usually don’t see it--- we feel it.

I’m going to tell you a little story. I know very little about cars. Up until last year I bought my cars with only one feature in mind -- it had to be blue. Go ahead and laugh --- I’ll wait……….

You will joke at my simplicity, but in the car I drive now, I saw three features that sold it.

1: I saw it was a safe car. I just felt safe in it. It felt safe --- and secure all around me --- just like a perfect hug.

2: I saw a sun/moon roof --- to look at the clouds and the stars, at red lights, of course.

3: I saw it had an awesome sound system. One where I can hear every voice, every instrument, every harmony…. One that I can not wait to hear every CD and every song that I can ever get my hands on through this system……….. I saw things that I was looking for in a car.

This car, however, has another feature that I was unaware of. One I did not readily see.

What this car has that I didn’t see----------is power. I don’t know what power felt like in a car. I learned very quickly, what it feels like. I found that out the first time I tried to merge on the interstate-----when you merge you usually have to gun it because the cars are coming 60 plus miles per hour. I gunned it, and let’s just leave it at that. I felt--------the power. I felt the power that I hadn’t seen.

Matthew 9: 20-22 says “Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch His cloak, I will be healed.”

It’s okay if you need more than just what your eyes can see. Most of us do. If you don’t trust your eyes, try trusting what you feel.

The power is there, whether you see it or not.

John 20: 27 “Stop doubting and believe.”.
