Healthy Harry says…

Hello dear readers. I’ve been on a sabbatical. I don’t write much, but it must be enough to make a 60 something man tired. Somehow, I just couldn’t motivate myself to contribute a column to the magazine. However, my “heart” smote me, and the publisher said write or I’m taking your column down. “‘Nuff said”, said I, so here I am. I’ve heard about so many illnesses, diseases, and accidents that I guess I thought I was writing about them.

My main concern this month is calcium. I’ve been using it for a couple of years in thousands of milligrams to neutralize an acid overbalance that I have. At night I take about 3,000 mg with Ester C and Microhydrin. In the morning I have no backache and I get breakfast cheerfully for the “crew”. Without it my lower back causes me to stay in the “bent-over” position. I slowly straighten up, but it hurts until I have had some calcium. For this reason, I try to never forget my calcium. Who wants to walk like that for any length of time? Not me!

The other day I was watching a nutritional show and a lady told the host that, if you eat sugar, you need to take calcium, or your body will provide it from your bones and teeth. I never have heard about sugar discussed in that way before. I always heard that sugar will give me cavities, but now I know why. For some reason sugar needs calcium to neutralize it. I also believe that too many carbohydrates that become sugar, need to be neutralized by calcium. All my life I have eaten many wrong foods.

Today I heard doctor who had one hour of nutrition in college, but has been asked so many questions by informed clients that he has studied nutrition extensively. Now he tells people not to eat many foods that we are told by experts that we must have for good nutrition. He said that his method using mostly vegetables produces healthy, trim people, without excess fat. He also doesn’t believe in eating vegetable oils. He called them poison. I like oil. I like oil. What am I going to do?

This guy has me thinking, again. This could be dangerous. Oh, well until next time, bone parteef. May God guide you to do what you think you should do.
