Kevin's Kingdom Nuggets By Editor Kevin Molloy Freedom! | |
Looking in the Bible is my favorite type of research. Into anything that I write to help the Body of Christ learn something I just naturally look to see what the Bible has to say about things first. The experiences I get from doing such research are always richer than anything else I can imagine. Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance has every mention of every word in the Bible and with 1025 chapters of heavy reading, it takes all the work out of researching all things. There is still much to read, yet Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance is the main reference work I use as a Biblical writer. Therefore following habits that are decades old and tried under fire from Bible school until now, I plugged the word freedom into the computer search engine and found that there are only two mentions of the word freedom in the King James Version, One verse is in Leviticus and one verse is in the New Testament in Acts. Lev 19:20 KJV And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. Acts 22:28 KJV And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born. In the Old Testament the verse that uses the word freedom means freedom from slavery. It was the second verse that inspired me to write this article. Now that I think about it, the first verse has merit for us as well. Freedom means not being a slave to anyone or anything. I do not like being in bondage to anything or anyone. I recently separated myself from China and came back home to America. The first thing I did was read the gas pumps as we stopped for fuel. I found that there was nothing I could not read on the pump because it was all in English. Not half Chinese except for numbers, and not all Chinese either. Freedom! I could read the whole descriptions of everything that was on the pumps and it was wonderful. I read every sign that I could read twice and sometimes three times. I saw a sign that said Frostys for sale, and my mouth salivated for three minutes afterwards. I enjoyed freedom from ignorance, because I could not read Chinese. Such a delicious morsel of experience! I have been in bondage to the Chinese language on such matters for the last three years. Now, I was ecstatic! I had a job to do when I went to China, and I was not deprived in any way except a translation from Chinese. Of course, there are no Frosties in China. Not yet anyways…. I have been freed from the responsibilities in China for good reasons that medically make sense, yet I did not realize that after witnessing to so many people in Chinese, it would make me so hungry for the English language description on a gas pump. Looking all around me now I can see what I missed in order to do God’s work. It is marvelous to be back and I cannot wait until the next task he is preparing for me to do. THE NEXT TASK must be big for he asked me to say the name of Jesus to 120 million Chinese people the last time. Maybe to another country? I will not be bored though… I guarantee it!
