Come Holy Spirit Come! As Christians we are eager for Jesus to come and save us from this world which seems to get crazier every day. We sing songs at church about the Holy Spirit coming. Jesus said before he died that He had to go so the comforter, the Holy Spirit, could come. He knew we would need the comforter. Have we experienced the Holy Spirit NOW? Have we heard the directions given? Have we felt the comfort He brings? Have we listened? Have we acted on His instruction? We may sing about the Holy Spirit coming, however, I think we need to realize He is already HERE! He IS speaking. He IS waiting for us to listen. I would like to say that we always listen and that I am speaking from experience. However, reality is, He speaks and I don't always listen. Sometimes I get caught up in the emotions of the event or injustice and don't stop and listen to the directions of the Holy Spirit. Recently I heard that the first thing we should always do is to PAUSE then to PONDER and then to PRAY. The pausing is really important because then we can hear the direction of the Holy Spirit. Pausing quiets our spirit, pondering gives us a chance to hear what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell us. Then, when we have paused and pondered the next step should be to PRAY. The prayer portion is very important because that is where we lift it all to Jesus! Let God handle it. It seems the most difficult time, at least for me, and very possibly for you, to "keep it together" to do the right thing is when we are being mistreated or falsely accused. This is difficult because the SELF is being attacked. This is a good barometer as to how much voice our SELF has left within us. This is perhaps more difficult for Americans because we are raised with the idea that we have RIGHTS and no one is to mistreat us. That sounds good but the reality is that we will all be mistreated or falsely accused at one time or another in our lives and that gives us a choice. The choice is, do we follow the flesh and do what our emotions tell us or do we follow the spirit and do what He instructs us to do? Our prayer can still be "Come Holy Spirit Come!" however, we need to also say, "Lord help me to listen when the Holy Spirit speaks." Thank you Jesus! © 2006 Copyright Ro Lashua. All rights reserved.
