WHEN JESUS COMES A KNOCKING…
When Jesus comes a knocking, Will you answer the door? Will He will stand there forever, Will he constantly implore? Asking your heart’s desire, To become His own great fire. As the enemy attacks those of us here at Believer’s Bay in our personal lives and every other which way, we stress a continuing effort to worship the God of all Flesh. There is nothing too hard for Him that He cannot accomplish in our lives. Being close to death… it has caused some inner examination…I have thrown out the old self and installed a newer refurbished model. I have changed my desire to what I can feel more comfortable in His searching, flashlight inspection. Some things I had around are now gone. I am probably better off without them anyways. I laugh more and the need to work incessantly has disappeared. Just to smell the roses is a fine way to appreciate life in general. Now we come to this month’s theme---Jesus knocking at the door. Wow! This is a wonderful subject to discuss! Let us look at the Scriptures for a moment shall we? A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." Mark 2:1-5 NIV Every time I look at these verses, I want to ask what is the owner’s reaction to the scenario painted by the Gospel writer? I cracked up when I first read it and felt a little sacrilegious for doing so. God is forgiving for He watches the heart…(I have always been thankful for that principle by the way.) I can just see the owner trying to stop them from tearing up the roof, and making a big hole to let a grown man lying on a mat through. The roof was probably just finished I imagine in my mind, although I have nothing in the Bible record to back that up. Things happen like that to me when it comes to Jesus’ interactions with me. As we think of Jesus standing at the door knocking we see the sincere wish of the Savior to be invited, and not like mere human beings tearing up the roofs to get what they want out of the Savior when He is in town. The results are the same but the method of the person entering is different. Jesus will heal, deliver, sanctify once He is inside, but He is a gentleman. He is not rude. He is cool and he can wait forever; He has all kinds of time. Entrance into the courts of Heaven will be the same as far as what happens when you get inside. There will be healing, plenty of food, and more importantly we can visibly see Jesus sitting on His throne which has been prepared for Him since Time began. The way in cannot be forced with a tearing off the roof on the beautiful city of God. It is impenetrable. Rev 22:1-6 NIV Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. 6 The angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true.” Ok so you know what will happen when you get in… What is the hold up? |
