The Last Century

I saw on TV the other night where the federal government spent $500,000 on a study of how well shrimp did on a tread mill…. Here is a real simple choice if you want to cut taxes give more to God..

Malachi 3:10 SAYS IF YOU DO THAT YOU WILL GET FAR MORE THAN A TAX DEDUCTION..

If I were to tell you the twentieth century was the most significant century in the history of man would that be accurate?

* The airplane was invented.
* The telephone was invented
* The Car was invented
* The computer was invented
* Antibiotics were invented.
* Television was invented.
* Anesthesia was invented ….any of you who have had surgery knows that is pretty important

Something far more important happened 2000 years ago, something that has changed the course of history from B.C. (Before Christ) to A.D.

Brooke Foss Wescott, an English HISTORICAL scholar, wrote, “Taking all the evidence together, it is not too much to say that there is no historic incident better or more variously supported than the resurrection of Chri

Dr. Simon Greenleaf the famous Royall Professor of Law at Harvard University examined the value of the historical EVIDENCE. Greenleaf came to the conclusion that, according to the laws of legal evidence used in courts of law, there is more evidence for the historical fact of the resurrection of Jesus Christ than for just about—any—other—event– in –history.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPROTANT?     As I sit here at this key board there is one thing that is 100% certain. That is that 100% of the people who read this, will die in the 21st century… that is unless Jesus comes again in our life time.

Is it really so important, if I die within the next twelve months, or live twenty or fifty more years?  One hundred years from now, I will have been dead almost one hundred years either way.

That is why it is important that Jesus was raised from the dead, because, he promised that I too will not stay dead.  You see the most significant event in the history of man was not the death of Jesus, as important as that was, it was the resurrection of Jesus, because if he had not raised from the grave, his death would not have been important. Peter, John, Paul and thousands of other followers of Jesus also died horrible deaths, but they did not come back from the dead, only Jesus came back.   There is a song I hear on the radio that says, “he wouldn’t stay dead and he won’t stay gone.”

Philippians 3:10-11
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; 11 in order that I may too attain the resurrection from death.

Some may think this is a morbid piece, but it is not, think how exciting it is to know, death is certain, and resurrection to spend eternity with Jesus is just as certain.

Let me encourage each person reading this to live each day as if this the last century you will ever have on this earth, but it is the first day in eternity.

Jim Elliott is quoted as saying… “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose”

Folks this is not a sad occasion…he is risen…Praise God he is risen..
